Rosette Nebula, NGC 2237 and cluster NGC 2244

Data: Dark Auditor · Processing: Gosforth Skies

Scope
Seestar S50
Filters
LP (dual-band) filter
Integration
1,963 × 10 s used (346 rejected), 5.5 h
Nights
3 nights, 20–22 Oct 2026, South Africa

Three nights combined. Every frame was checked, and 346 hit by cloud or the dawn sky were left out. The Seestar's alt-az mount lets the field rotate during the night, so the three nights were aligned and trimmed to the area they share. The light-pollution gradient was removed, and the hydrogen and oxygen signals mapped to gold and blue, with gentle sharpening.

You've definitely brought out more of the fainter features.

The corner stars were comet-shaped (coma and a touch of tilt) and left coloured shadows, so their shapes were corrected before the colour work, and the oxygen frames, up to 1.1 px out in the corners, were realigned. Flats from another night still cleaned up the dust and vignetting. Finished in the Hubble palette with a gold lift where hydrogen leads.

Eleven hydrogen frames caught a red glow from stray light in one corner and were left out, and the crop keeps clear of that corner. With hydrogen and oxygen only, hydrogen stands in for sulphur in the palette, and the finish is kept soft so the faint wisps stay smooth.

The images look really good, well done!

Bubble Nebula, NGC 7635

Scope
StellaLyra 8-inch Newtonian at 1,868 mm, ZWO ASI1600MM Pro
Filters

Integration
94 × 60 s in each filter, 3.1 h (hazy frames down-weighted or dropped)
Nights
22–23 Sept 2026, England

The bright star below the Bubble had a wide halo in the oxygen frames only: a reflection in the filter, not nebula, so it was removed and the uneven oxygen background flattened. With no flats, a glow along one edge is cropped away.

You're pulling some wonderful detail out of these data sets! Well done.

No flats came with this set, so flats from a later session with the same scope and camera were used. The data came out faint and flat, so it has a stronger finish than usual, and a coloured fringe along one edge is cropped away.
